Background of the Community

The Barangay Ditay is situated in the municipality of Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay—known as a 4th class municipality which has 22 barangays. Ditas was the original name of Barangay Ditay in honor of the lady and daughter of Subanen timoay named Ditas who was lost in midst of partly pastured and timbered land while she was attending their herds of carabao long time ago. The Subanen villagers were looking after Ditas. They called out her name and cried Ditas! Ditas! Ditas! And it so happened that a group of hunters heard this word and they called this place Ditas until such time Ditas was changed to Ditay until it was official created as regular barangay. The barangay has an estimated land area of about 1,516.57 hectares. The total number of population is around 2,820 people with more or less 549 households.

But majority of them are Roman Catholic while the other are Seventh Day Adventist (SDA), Alliance, Things to Come Mission (TCM), Church Body of Christ, Jehovah Witnesses and other sectors.

Barangay Ditay has an estimated area of 3,400 hectares. This barangay has 9 puroks and 3 sitios, bounded by the following barangay Guinoman in the north, Sampoli in the south, Natan in the west and Balangao in the east.
